Michael jackson Almost Broke Internet !

The ceremony in homage to Bambi at Staples Center was a good one in terms of Internet traffic. Akamai, a specialist in Internet pipes, said that the global traffic during the ceremony was simply multiplied by … 33! All with an average of 4 millions Internet users every minute watching the live video! It is staggering even for a single man. The least we can say is that Michael made himself as interesting dead than alive.

More broadly, this may have ben one of the pillar steps to the consecration of Internet as an interactive mass media. Who among us has not posted messages yesterday crying or mocking via mail, chat, Facebook or Twitter? The social web is becoming the new establishment, slowly pushing to the trash the traditional news sources (TV, radio, newspapers). The net deserves now a chief, and own government! ;-)
